You know, sometimes it is fun to just stay around the campground and do things that most people associate with camping. Living in the 5W full-time, I live my life like I would if I lived in a sticks and bricks, not like I'm on vacation. I still have to go to the grocery store, do laundry, clean "house", pay bills, etc. But, wherever I am, I also want to go see things in the area and do things that I've heard about or read about. So, with all the coming and going, just spending time chillin' doesn't really happen unless I make the conscious decision to make it happen.
A few nights ago, Mr. W and I decided to build a fire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows. It was fairly cold that night so the fire felt good. There is just one problem with building a fire......smoke. Ugh! You spend a lot of time moving around trying to get away from the smoke! Anyway, we invited several couples to join us and the roasting began.

SIL brought some GIANT marshmallows! One was about all you could eat. I really like my marshmallows soft on the inside and pretty crispy outside. The GIANT marshmallows were no where near soft inside by the time they were crispy on the outside. I guess too much of a good thing is a bad thing! I think it is safe to say that I will stick with the "large" marshmallows and stay away from the marshmallows on steroids!

| These really are about twice the size of a normal "large" marshmallow. |
We had forgotten that the time change meant dark came earlier. Mr. W had a small lantern and one of our friends had an even smaller lantern. We were all dragging out our smart phones and trying to find the flashlight on each of them! We did manage to fix our hot dogs and find the marshmallows in pretty much the dark. The sky was clear so you could see a lot of stars. It was nice to sit and just talk and laugh without having any distractions. We had all sat by many fires at many different campgrounds and had many stories to tell and remember. I think it is good for the soul to tell and remember stories. It causes you to remember things that have happened in your life and makes you realize what a good life you have had.
Anyway, we put out the fire, cleaned up the area, and went back to the 5W. It will probably be a long time before we have another campfire. But sometimes, it is nice to do some plain ol' camping.
