MONTGOMERY BELL STATE PARK

Today, I made my way to the Nashville, TN area.  Just by accident, I had about 3 days in which my plans were not solidified between Memphis and Nashville.  So, when things worked out that I would be staying in the Nashville area, I made reservations for the next 3 days at Montgomery Bell State Park.  Man, is it a pretty place!

I'm never sure about state parks.  Most were built long before RV's were as big as they are now and their sites won't accommodate a 38 ft. fifth wheel.  But, this one does.

So, Mr. W and I decided to ride our bikes around the park.  We followed the sign for the church and the home and decided to check it out.
As you can see from the pic above, this house  is a replica of the McAdow house.  The reverends listed formed the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (denomination).  They were breaking away from the teachings of predestination.

They had 2 rooms furnished like it would have been during that time.  Because of all the screens, it was hard to get a good picture.

This is the house.  There is a dog run in the middle.  The left side was the kitchen, dining area, and living area. The right side was the bedroom. The bedroom had beds for all the family.

This is the church built as a memorial to the Cumberland Presbyterian formation.
The inside of the church. The pews are wood. Every window is stained glass.

This is the stream running under the bridge in the top picture.

You know I have mentioned before that some of the best things about full-timing is meeting new people.  Today, I met Doug and Sue.  They camp in a 16 Ft. Shasta.  It was one that they refer to as the "canned ham" model. She made the awning. She has an antique booth in an antique shop. They recently went to an event where Mike Wolf from American Pickers  was there.  He came to see their trailer.

Our first trailer was a Shasta and even though it was a piece of junk, Mr. W and I are always interested in Shastas.  Mr. W.'s best friend from childhood is Robert.  Robert's parents had a 14 Ft. Shasta similar to this and that trailer holds many great childhood memories for Mr. W. Maybe that's part of the interest too.

Notice the I Love Lucy magazine in the magazine rack. They also had the DVD of the Long, Long Trailer starring Lucille Ball.

I couldn't live in this, but it was really cool and nostalgic.

This state park has full hook-ups for those of you who want sewer. (I'm in that group!).  They also offer tent camping sites and sites with water and electricity only.  It really is a great place to stay.
