FAMILY KINGDOM AMUSEMENT PARK

How could it be spring break at Myrtle Beach and you NOT do something touristy?  AND, how can you NOT go to an amusement park when you are on spring break with 2 little girls? Exactly!  So, much to the girls excitement, we decided to spend a day at Family Kingdom Amusement Park and we had wonderful weather to do so.

There are amusement parks, miniature golf parks, go-cart tracks, etc. on just about every corner.  Daughter had done some research and decided this park gave you the most variety of things to do and most value for your dollar.  You could buy a wrist band for $27 that allowed you to ride just about everything in the park or you could buy a book of 27 tickets for $25 (each ride was anywhere from 2 to 5 tickets to ride) or you could buy individual tickets that were $1.15 each.  We found a $3 off coupon for the wrist bands, so we were good to go.

You know, the problem with amusement parks is one says kids have to be one height to ride certain rides and another will say a different height.  You guessed it.  We had some tears over that.  Curly had her heart set on riding the "big" roller coaster because she had been tall enough to ride the "big" roller coaster at another park.  Sure enough, she gets to the "big" roller coaster and she is not tall enough to ride it.  Great big crocodile tears started flowing.  That is a big disappointment to an 8 year old.  But, once the initial disappointment was over, she took it like a champ and didn't let it ruin her attitude the rest of the day.  Her sweet smile and laughs were back in no time.

Popcorn does not like roller coasters.  (Neither do I!)  She does not like the going up high and then racing down.  No matter how much coaxing anyone did, she was not going to ride a roller coaster.  However, her mom and dad talked her into going on the log ride.  Remember, the log ride that goes up high and then races down.  You know, like a roller coaster.  They managed to get her on it because she did not have to wait in line long which did not give her a chance to watch the ride.  Believe me, she would have figured it out.  So, needless to say, this wasn't a fun experience for her.

There they go up.

Here they come down AND get wet.

One is smiling. One is crying.
She and I got on what was always my favorite ride as a kid......well, as an adult too.  They called it The Scrambler.  She asked me a lot of questions about it.  I assured her that it did not go up, it did not go down.  We just whipped around really fast.  I told her that I was going to scream and she could too.  She just giggled the entire time. All was right with the world again.

We all rode on the ferris wheel.  It was a clear day and you could see for miles up there.  It was a very pretty sight.

Mr. W and I used the rest of our tickets and called it a day.  I think Daughter and SIL stayed just a little while longer and left.  What a fun day!
