SILVER DOLLAR CITY-PART 2

The Wi-Fi has been down for the past few days.  It finally started working again this evening so I wanted to finish my post on Silver Dollar City.

I have some long time friends who retired about 2 years ago.  They are here too and we all bought season tickets to Silver Dollar City so we can come and go as we please.  They have many performers doing many shows each day and some of the performers change every week or two.  This Wednesday, some new performers started their shows and we decided to go check them out.

Here are my friends. James and Mickey have been more like family than friends.  Our kids are all about the same age.  We met them when their son was 3 years old and Daughter was 4 years old. So, it has been close to 30 years that we have been friends.

One of the new performers this week were the Quebe Sisters.  They are 3 sisters who all play the fiddle and sing.  All 3 girls have at one time during their life been the Texas State Champion Fiddle Player.  They do "Texas Swing" music.  They recently opened for George Strait when he was in San Antonio.  They were really good.  The guy on the guitar and the guy on the bass fiddle were also really good.

There is also another trio of ladies that go by the name, Perfect Heart.  They sing country, 1940's swing songs, and southern gospel.  One of the girls does some yodeling and was the champion yodeler one year for somewhere.  (I guess it didn't make a big impression on me!) They grew up in Missouri, started singing together in church, and ended up as regular performers at Silver Dollar City.  They have been there for 22 years! Wow!

But, let's not forget about the rides.  Remember that I don't do roller coasters?  Well, as you remember, Mr. W rode the new roller coaster, Outlaw Run.  They have another roller coaster they call The Powder Keg and you know who had to ride it.  According to him, this one was better than the new one.  I tried to get some pics but openings to get pics were pretty limited.

They have several water rides and you do get wet one those rides.  It has been around 85 degrees each time I have been to Silver Dollar City.  So, I came prepared to ride the water rides and get wet when it got hot in the afternoon.  Well, it was cloudy most all day and before I could ride anything other than a ride called Fire In the Hole, it started pouring down rain.  Fortunately, I was under a pavilion and didn't get soaked.  But, as soon as the rain stopped, I left and decided to come back another day and ride more rides.

I also wanted to mention that a couple from my Sunday School class at home were up in this area for a motorcycle rally and stayed an extra week to visit Branson.  They came by the RV and we all went to lunch together.  So, after lunch and before they left, I got to go for a ride on the motorcycle.  Thanks Andy and Claudia for the good fellowship at lunch and for the ride on the motorcycle. :)
