TOOK A HIKE

There is a trail that has a starting place at the back of Treasure Lake.  I'm not sure the total length of the trail.  However, Mr. W and  friend, James Thompson like to hike and decided that they were going to check out this trail.  It is the Henning State Forest Trail (that's its official name).  So, one day, a couple of weeks ago, they took off on their hike.

When Mr. W returned, he told me about a beautiful creek that had several small waterfalls and a grotto.  He thought for sure that I would think it was beautiful and he wanted me to go with him to see the sights.  I asked him how far to the creek, what was the trail like, how long (time) of a hike would it be, etc.  If you know Mr. W, you know you have to get all of this information before you agree to whatever it is he is trying to talk you into.  Let me give you an example of why.  Early on I would ask him how much something was going to cost when he would tell me that HE needed to fix something on an automobile, house, boat, RV, whatever.  He would tell me, I would double that amount, and sure enough, that was pretty close to what it truly ended up costing. The same thing applies to time. You get the picture.

So, the other day, Mr. W decided that it was a good day for me to take "the hike" to see the creek, waterfalls, and grotto.  This is how the conversation went.

Me: How far of a hike is it?
Mr. W: Oh, I'm not sure, maybe 1/2 a mile......or maybe a mile
Me: How much time will it take?
Mr. W: Oh, about an hour
Me:  Is it a good trail for me to walk on?
Mr. W:  Oh yeah.  It's not bad at all

So, off we go.  AND, 2 1/2 hours later, AFTER, going on a very rocky AND hilly AND slippery trail THAT was a total of about 3 miles, we returned.  You would think after 38 years that I would know better, right?

I did, however, return with some pretty pics.  It was pretty in spots and when the leaves change more, it will be beautiful in spots.  Here are a few of the pics.

Here is a pic of me and Mr. W at the lookout we hiked up to.  This isn't the highest lookout but it was the highest one I was going to!  The pic below that is one of the views you see off of the lookout.

If you like to hike, this really is a good place to take a hike.

  1. If you don't have a good pair of hiking boots, invest in them. They are worth every penny!
