JAMAICA BEACH RV RESORT

I promised that I would blog about where I am living at the moment.  Sorry it took so long!

Jamaica Beach RV Resort (JBRR) is one of a very few nice RV parks on Galveston Island.  It is located on the west end of the island.  This part of the island is booming with new construction.  Hurricane IKE came through in 2008 and pretty much shut Galveston down.  It has taken several years for the island to make a come back but it is well past recovery and moving on to growing even bigger.

JBRR has daily rates, weekly rates, and monthly rates.  However, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the max you can stay in one visit is 2 weeks.  There is a new RV park on the east end of the island by Stewart Beach.  They don't allow monthly stays between Mardi Gras and Halloween.  Can you tell that the RV parks don't have problems renting RV sites?

JBRR started out half the size it is now.  According to their website, they just recently purchased an additional piece of land.  So, I'm guessing they have plans of expanding even more.

This is where one of the laundry rooms is located.  There is also a mens/ladies restroom/shower here too.

Below this there is also the "adult" pool with a swim up bar.  Kids are allowed in this pool until 4:00 pm.  After 4:00, it is adults only.  They do not serve liquor, but you can bring your own coolers.  There is a place to keep your coolers under a little palaypa so that you never have to leave the pool to get a drink.  I didn't take any pics of the pool.  It is not cleaned and inviting right now as it will be once the weather warms. Just like I don't like pics of me being out there when I don't look my best, same applies to the pool.  I know it will look like paradise once it is time to enjoy it.

This is the what is called the Clubhouse.

As you can see, the office is located here.  All of that unfinished wood is an addition that has been added since we arrived.  They are adding a store.  This building also houses the other laundry room and mens/womens bathhouses.  The third floor has tables and chairs and a kitchen.  Pot luck suppers happen here every Thursday evening and  game night is Tuesday.  There is also a very small work out room.  Below this building is another pool, a splash pad for kids, and a playground for kids.

They also have a miniature golf course.  If you are staying at the park, it is free.  However, the public is welcome to pay to play.

There are people here from EVERYWHERE.  It is great to walk through the park and check out all of the license plates.  It is pretty cool to see how many folks are here from Canada.

I forgot to mention that they make pizzas at the office.  One evening I had gotten back to the "trailerhood" after a full day of activity.  I did not want to cook so Mr. W suggested we call and order a pizza.  I called the office, placed my order and the manager asked me what site was I in.  I told him and he told me that he would have it to me in about 20 minutes. Sure enough, in about 20 minutes, he arrived on his golf cart with my pizza.  WOW, pizza delivery right here!

There are a lot of retirees here right now but this is a very family friendly place with a lot to do for the kiddos.  If you are ever this way, Jamaica Beach RV Resort is worth the stay.

  1. You are right, it is a nice park! There's a turtle habitat and you didn't show it to us? Y'all are holding out on us. :) Also, that one picture looks like it's in the snow. I'm confused.
