BACK IN BRANSON

We finally made it to Branson.  We actually arrived Friday afternoon.  The leaves are already starting to change and I know it will be beautiful in just a few days.

If you remember from my visit last year, my friend Wendy, lives in Harrison, Arkansas, which is about 35 miles from Branson.  I contacted Wendy and told her that we were coming that way again this year.  We decided that Saturday (yesterday) was the day to meet up.

She has several grandchildren.  Two of her grandsons play peewee football and were having a game Saturday morning.  Their team is undefeated and one of Wendy's sons is one of the coaches.  So, I left Branson early Saturday morning to drive to Harrison and cheer on the football team.

The storm I experienced in Little Rock, turned into a cold front.  It was 36 degrees in Branson on Saturday morning and the wind was blowing about 20mph.  It was cold!  I mean, come on, I just left Texas.  It was in the 90s during the day and in the 70s at night.  I was still using my a/c in the 5W.  My blood is very thin!  I get dressed yesterday and layering on about half of my entire wardrobe! :) But once I was at the stadium and got out of the wind a little and in the bright sunshine, I started warming up and it turned out to be a wonderful day.

Harrison was having a festival in their town square.  There were booths set up by vendors.  There were a ton of food trucks serving funnel cakes, bar-b-q, fried chicken, cotton candy, cokes and coffee. They are getting ready for  the elections in November in which they will be electing a mayor.  All 3 candidates had booths set up. The kids were being entertained by a big blow up jumping "thing" and there was a stage set up for various bands.  I ended up buying some banana bread made by one of the vendors and 2 small jars of jam (plum and peach) also made by one of the vendors.  When I asked her if she had made the jam, she said she had and had used only fruit grown locally.  I'm not sure why, but I really like that.

Wendy recently moved from a very large house to a pretty small house.  I went to see her new, smaller house.  It is perfect for her.  As a single, more mature, woman, she does not need something that requires a ton of time taking care of.  I think she has found it!  She had made a big pot of homemade chicken soup and she warmed up a bowl for us and that's what we had for lunch.  It was yummy and the warm soup was perfect with the weather.

Our time spent together always goes by really quickly.  This day was no different.  I left with the hope to have her come to the RV park and have dinner with me one night before I leave.  Did you remember that Wendy and I went through school, kindergarten thru high school, together and were best friends, inseparable friends, from about 7th grade til we both got married. Wow, where has the time gone?  I'm glad I have new friends, but there is something about long time friends that hold a special place in my heart.  Maybe it is because they know all your secrets and things you did that you don't want your kids to find out about! :) Anyway, I'm glad I have been able to spend some time with her.

Me and Wendy leaving the peewee football game.
