SDC always decorates according to the season and they had all their autumn decorations out and with Veteran's Day coming up, there was a lot of the good old red, white, and blue around too. Branson has always catered to veterans and shown them much honor and respect which they are due. However, through the years, mainly WWII vets came to Branson. With most of them gone now, there are fewer and fewer vets visiting. Branson is working real hard to provide entertainment for the younger veterans and their families but it hasn't seemed to catch on yet. It will be interesting to watch in the next couple of years to see what happens to the amount of tourists in Branson.

One of the acts I saw was a brother/sister group named Southern Raised Band. They were all young and very talented. Their harmony was right on and I think any of them could have played any string instrument around. They were trained in classical music but started playing and singing a form of bluegrass a few years ago. They just finished filming a DVD of their songs videos at what use to be Barbara Mandrell's log cabin mansion in Nashville. I bet we will be hearing more and more about these kids as time goes by.
After the Southern Raised show, I had lunch and then walked over to what was called the Barn Dance. Little did I know that they really meant that it was a barn dance. Hey, I never claimed to be the sharpest tack in the package..... :) So, I sat down and listened to the band and watched a lot people, most of who were older than me, get out and dance up a storm. AND, they didn't look like they were breathing hard or breaking a sweat! I want to be them when I grow up. There were a couple of young ladies that were stationed at the Barn Dance to dance with people who didn't have a partner to dance with. As you can see from the picture below, one older gentleman was a dancin' and a twirlin' (as we say in the South) one of those young ladies! Good for him.
After the Barn Dance, I strolled through some of the park and looked at some of the wares that the vendors were making and selling and then called it an afternoon.
This year, I will be here when the Christmas decorations go up. I'm looking forward to that. I will be posting pics so stay tuned.
