THE TEXAS TENORS

Tonight, I went to see The Texas Tenors.  This wasn't a show that was on my bucket list to see.  But, a lady offered me tickets for $10 pp, so I thought, "What the heck" and I went.

The Texas Tenors first appeared on America's radar in 2009 on the show America's Got Talent.  They came in 4th place that year on the show.  They all call Houston, TX home. Soooo, what could come out of Houston and have Texas in their name but something great. Right? You could say that I'm partial to people and things having to do with Texas and Houston.  But hey, this is my blog so I guess I can be! :)  [You knew that was coming so don't even act surprised]

All 3 of the guys started out singing gospel songs but eventually all 3 were trained in classical music.  They are best friends and have been singing in Branson since 2010 when they are not touring. Their show consists of country music, pop music, their own twist to a rock and roll song and opera.  One of the guys does all the arranging of the music and he does a great job.  Their harmonies are great.  I must admit that there were a few "odd" breaks in their routine that didn't "feel" right and were not funny and were awkward.  However, overall it was a good show.

They have a special on PBS and are up for some emmy nominations for that.  They have also toured overseas in England and China.  They have a couple of CDs and a DVD out.  Most of what is on the CDs and the DVD are the songs they performed on America's Got Talent.  They are trying to get enough original songs to put together a CD of only original songs.  Both of the original songs they sang tonight had to do with dreaming and having your dreams come true.  I guess this life they are living now parallels with these songs.

Now, what guy in a pair of jeans and a cowboy hat doesn't look pretty hunky?

"The stars at night are big and bright (clap, clap, clap, clap) deep in the heart of Texas" Yep,
they were singing that song and all the Texans there were doing the clapping.

Our really good friends, Mickey and James, are here too.  They went with us to the show.  Our friends that we met here last year went also.  We kind of have this standing ritual that any time we go to a show or someplace at night, we always go afterwards to Freddy's for ice cream.  So, even though it is 50 degrees and misting rain, we had to go to Freddy's.

Their sundaes are the best.
