Just when I thought I was doing great getting rid of "stuff", time came for me to get rid of SHOES! OMG! How was I going to do this???
For those of you that don't know, I am a SHOE GIRL! I love shoes. You can never have too many of them. It doesn't matter if you have 8 pairs of black shoes. I have a reason for having every single pair of them! Men can have 3 pairs of shoes: 1 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of casual shoes, and 1 pair of sneakers. They can go through life with just those 3. But girls cannot! Especially a SHOE GIRL cannot. So, no one should gasp with shock when I say that I had 40 pairs of shoes. There, I said it and stop being judgmental...... :)
So, the process began. I sat in the floor of my closet and started going through boxes. Some were pretty easy to put in the "give away" pile. They were the pair of shoes that were for special occasions or just in case or if Daughter needed to borrow........ But, then came the ones that I wear fairly often. Notice that I said "fairly" often. They would go in the "give away" pile and after a few minutes would come out of the "give away" pile because what if I "needed" those?
This went on for almost an HOUR! Finally, I looked at the "give away" pile and the "keep" pile and they were almost equal. I had struggled for an HOUR and had only agreed with myself to give away half. That meant that I was keeping 20 pairs of shoes.......in an RV..........when my wardrobe will consist of capris, T-shirts, and sunglasses........
This had been a very traumatic experience for me! So, I picked myself up off the floor, stepped out of my closet, and told Mr. W that were going to have to find room in our storage facility for half of my shoes because I was about to have heart palpitations over getting rid of half of them. After he quit laughing, he very sympathetically told me that we would find somewhere to store my shoes until I was ready to part with the rest of them. Wow, was that a load off of me! ;)
So, here's a farewell to some dear friends. Let's have a moment of silence.
Did you think to ask Daughter if she wanted to wear, I mean store, your shoes for you?! ;)
