BOARDWALK AND FIREWORKS

Yesterday I went to the Boardwalk at Myrtle Beach.  I told you I am staying at North Myrtle Beach but decided to visit the Boardwalk which is a popular place to go. So, I make the drive to Myrtle Beach.

It has gotten hot.  It is in the mid 90s during the day and humid. I know that's what I'm suppose to be use to since I come from Texas. But, I've been in low 80s during the day country and frankly, was loving it.  However, around 6:00 pm, the winds have picked up and made it feel a little cooler than it really is.  So, around 6:00 last night I headed for the Boardwalk.  The Boardwalk is 1 1/2 miles long. There are many restaurants, ice cream parlors, bars, stores, and various other establishments all along the Boardwalk.  There is a "center area" that has a stage for performers and risers for the public to sit and watch the performers.  There is a schedule posted of who is performing on what nights for the entire summer.  No one was scheduled for last night but there were many young people who did everything from playing instruments, to singing, to dancing on that stage.  There was also a drum line that walked around the area and performed on different street corners.  I'm not sure if they were performers from a local school or from a local school district or just kids that signed up to show off their talent.  Mr. W and I sat at one of the restaurants on their patio and could get the breeze and watch the talent show.  Best seat in the whole place!

There is a big ferris wheel on the beach.  It looks like fun and I may make a return trip once the grandkids get here.

Some of the kids rehearsing before their performance.

One of the places on the Boardwalk is a GIANT candy store.  Everything in there was SUPER SIZED!  It was awesome!  Every kids dream and Mr. W's too!
Mr. W's size rice krispies treats!

These were all the same size as the rice krispies treats.

These were all tubes that dispensed Jelly Bellies, M&Ms, Sour Balls, and other candies.

Once I got back to the campground, I walked over to Barefoot Landing to watch the fireworks.  Barefoot Landing is a group of stores, restaurants, ice cream parlors and amusement rides on a boardwalk that is not on the beach but on a lake.  It backs up to the campground and there is a walkway and a gate you can walk through to get there.  Every Monday night they have fireworks and it was well worth the walk over to watch.
