FUN TIME WITH FAMILY AT MYRTLE BEACH

Daughter, SIL, and their precious 2 little girls, Curly and Popcorn, came to visit me. YAY! Did I mention that Daughter and family moved to Columbia, SC? Well, they did.  They left for Columbia the same time I left for this trip. So, they only had about a 2 hour trip to come for a visit.  I sure was glad to see them!

They arrived Thursday night pretty late.  Friday morning, we got up and headed for the beach. We had to stop at one of the many souvenir shops to buy a couple of the little, short, styrofoam boogie boards for the girls to play with in the water. There are many public parking places all along the beaches but they only hold about 5 vehicles and 5 golf carts. Needless to say, they fill up quickly.  However, we did find an empty spot in one of the public places and walked right onto the beach.  It was already pretty crowded but we picked a place to set up the umbrella, chairs, and all the other "stuff". If you plan to visit the beach, they only allow umbrellas on the beach. You cannot set up any kind of canopy or any other kind of shade except for umbrellas.
This is "Popcorn". I'm sure you guessed that she loves popcorn. Up until this year, she has been scared of the water. Something snapped this year and she can now swim and enjoys the water. She had been on her boogie board "surfing" with her Pops.

This is Miss Curly.  When she was little all the time and now, when she is sweaty, she has the most beautiful curls/ringlets in her most beautiful blonde hair.  She is having a snack because you know swimming makes you hungry!

This is Daughter with her baby girl, Popcorn. Daughter is my grown up "baby". She is a beautiful woman, both inside and out.

Mr. W (aka Pops) with Daughter. She was being very sentimental with her Dad. I guess it was because it was Father's Day weekend or maybe she was just feeling sentimental?

They were building a sandcastle.
After lunchtime and naptime, we decided to go to the Boardwalk on Myrtle Beach and have dinner.  It has been hot during the day but around 6:00 every evening, the breeze picks up and it is very pleasant.  This is especially true on the beach.  So, SIL decided he wanted to eat at The 8th Ave. Tiki Bar and Grill.  We got there and sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the view and the weather. Here are some pics we took to kill some time while we waited on our food.

After dinner, we walked down the Boardwalk and caught some of the sites along the way.
She found a game/arcade place. I mean, what kid can't find a place like that, right?

Elvis was at Myrtle Beach! AND he was singing at one of the outdoor stages.  The girls were watching/listening to Elvis.
The next day, we decided to spend the morning at the pool, here at the RV park.  Of course both girls wanted to show me how they could swim. They were having a great time.

That afternoon, we walked over to Barefoot Landing so the girls could ride the carrousel and we could all get ice cream.  Once we got there, we found out that the carrousel was free every Saturday during June as part of their summerfest.  What a deal! So, we ALL rode the carrousel! Nothing like riding a carrousel to make you feel like a kid again.

After we left the carrousel, we found a place that had small trampolines and the guy would fasten you in a harness that was attached to several bunjee type cords. Once you are harnessed, you are raised up off the trampoline a few feet.  The guy would pull you down and have you bounce off the trampoline by pushing off with your feet.  If you push halfway normal, you can go really high and you can do flips. Curly couldn't wait to do this. Popcorn wasn't too sure.  Curly was doing back flips and front flips. Popcorn did it but she was content to go high, but not too high, AND she was not about to do a flip. I was just glad that she did it at all!

As you can tell, she is fearless!

My more cautious beauty.
After Barefoot Landing, we waited a while, grilled hot dogs, and then they headed home.  It sure was great to see them!

Here are some random pictures from our visit.
Notice the shark's mouth they stepped in to.

SIL thought this would be a funny picture and guess what? It was. :)
Last but not least.  Look at these flip flops that I made for the girls. I was pretty proud that they turned out so cute! The girls loved them.
