Well, today is Miss Popcorn's 5 year old birthday! Wow. Where does the time go? It seems like yesterday that I was standing right outside the door of the birthing room listening to her being born.
It just happens that SIL had to leave the country yesterday on a business trip. And, since Daddy wasn't going to be there for her birthday, Mimi and Pops were a good substitute. I am so glad that I was able to be here for her birthday.
In honor of her birthday, I stopped by a local doughnut shop and bought her 2 chocolate iced with sprinkles doughnuts. Of course, Mr. W (Pops) wanted some, Daughter told me not to buy her one (but she opened the box when I got there and picked out the one she wanted), and Curly wanted pink iced with sprinkles. When I arrived at her house, I walked in and immediately started singing happy birthday. I saw the biggest smile on a little girl!
I told her yesterday that I was going to take her to Walmart and let her pick out her birthday present. She had a budget but she was up to the challenge. She had already scoped out some little dolls that she wanted at Tuesday Morning several weeks ago. Daughter had told her that she had to wait until she could buy the dolls with her own money. Birthday + Mimi's Shopping Spree = Dolls from Tuesday Morning. So that was the first stop we made.

She obviously found more than the little dolls! Right now, I am her favorite person. :)

She couldn't wait to get her hands on her toys!

Pretty big package for a little girl.
After it was all said and done, she still had $10 left from me and she had a $20 bill from her Nana. So, off to Walmart we went.
You know, it is pretty difficult to stay on a budget when you are in Walmart! There is so much "stuff" and there are a lot of things that tempt you to buy them. I'm not just talking about Popcorn and her budget, I'm including myself and my budget in those statements! But, when you are 5 years old, it takes a long time to look at everything and make a decision. After about 40 minutes, we were checking out and heading home. She couldn't wait to show her sister what she got.
The girls played with all the new toys, we had lunch, and went swimming for a couple of hours. After swimming, it was time for some more playing with new toys. Daughter had told them that they did not have to take a nap today. Of course, after a couple hours of swimming, there were some pretty tired girls.
Popcorn wanted to go to McDonald's for dinner. Not only could she get a kid's meal with a toy inside, and a big cup of ice cream, but, she could also play in the playground area! What 5 year old little girl could ask for more, right? So, around 6:00 we went to McDonalds. The only problem with McDonald's in Columbia, SC? Their playgrounds are outside! At least it had cooled off below THE HIGH OF 97 before we went. It was still hot but bearable.

After McDonald's, it was bath time and bed time, especially since there were no naps today. Oh, that went for the girls too..... :)
Glad to hear you are enjoying your time with all the kids in Columbia!! We will be heading to Sesqui in October for a weekend. We just missed you in Myrtle Beach. We left Huntington Beach SP on June 11th for a week near Charleston, SC and returned to Myrtle Beach SP on June 18th. Try to STAY COOL:o)))
